And The Winners are…

Well, I didn't get as much accomplished today as I hoped so I don't have my new product on my Knitterella site yet but I did pick the winners of the contest!
Well, I didn't get as many Blossom Barrettes and Flower-Pin Tags done today as I hoped for but I did update my Knitterella site with what I did get done and I did pick the winners of the contest!
Instead of cutting out and drawing names (like I did last time) this time I just asked my husband to pick a couple numbers between 1 and 22 and the winners are…

kristiemd - wins a Blossom Barrette!
Rivercitystl - wins a Flower-Pin Tag!
And for good measure I'd like to send sample packs of my Knitterella stationery to: Peaknit and Knittin-gin!Congratulations to the winners and thank you all for stopping by!!!

Thanks again and if your name was picked please be sure to email me your address and info so I can send you your prize! Email me at knitterella@knitterella.com

Look What I Got…

Yes, it's the new book from Susan B. Anderson - Itty-Bitty Nursery! I helped design and layout for some of Susan's free patterns (which you can find on the sidebar of her blog) and to thank me she sent me an autographed copy. How cool is that?! If you haven't already you need to get a copy for yourself. As usual there are tons of cute, cute baby knits in here!Oh, what's that you say? Why yes it is and thanks for noticing my finished Aamu! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out but there is one thing that I don't like, the bottom ribbing is not fitted at all. I'm worried it will look and get stretched out. Maybe I should try washing and putting it in the drier for a bit to see if it will shrink? Well, I think I'll leave it as is for now - it's defiantly wearable, I do like it.Pattern Source: "Aamu" from Berroco's Norah Gaughan Volume 1
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden
Size: small

THANK YOU for all the positive comments on my Flower-Pin Tags and Blossom Barrettes!!! I'm working on stocking up with some so I can put them here and here. In the mean time, I will have the drawing on Sunday so I'll take comments through Saturday.

Thanks again, I really appreciate you all for stopping by!

Have a great weekend!

New Knitterella Product

My night of "R and D" paid off!

I'm very happy with my new Knitterella products! Like my Flower-Pin Tags…So cute to use as the finishing touch to a gift (remember when I did these?). The hand-crocheted flower has a button back so it's a gift in it's self!I've got a lot of gifts to make and with the holidays around the corner they'll be perfect! And then guess what… the Flower-Pin Tags led to Blooming Barrettes!Oh I think they are so cute! Would look really cute in the hair of a little girl but I guess they look good on a big girl too ;)
I've been having so much fun with these! I'll be making a lot more that is for sure. In the mean time I have a crazy week ahead of me so I'm not going to be blogging very much. I'm going to leave this post up for the majority of the week and when I get back to blogging I would love to have another little drawing/giveaway!

If you leave me a comment, when I get back, I will put all the comments in a hat and draw a couple names. I will send Flower-Pin Tags to the winners. What do you think? Drawings are always fun, right?

Hope these cute little crocheted flowers brighten your day like they did mine!

Sewing Class

I just signed up for a sewing class with my cousin Amy. Should be fun! I went today to pick up a couple projects.I finally got my hands on some Amy Butler fabrics. Oooo, I love them! I wanted to make the Barcelona Skirt, but they were out of the pattern. Instead I'm doing a Chelsea Bag and the Apron from In-Stitches (love this book!).

Sooo many projects, sooo little time!!!!

Tonight Ed and I are home, the Tigers are on and I've got my yarn, hooks and needles and am working on some R and D. Sounds like a great night to me!I've got so many ideas I'm working on right now I can't get them done fast enough - ever get like that? - anyway, tonight I'm working on the Flower-Pin Tags that I did last week. I got such a good response from them and they are so fun to make I thought I better stock up. I've got a lot of gift giving coming up and these are perfect!

Oh and I guess I better fess up… yeah, I like Bush Light… but only in the privacy on my own home, in public it's Miller Light! ;)

Dreaming Of Anthro

My Aamu is coming along! Hope to get it done this weekend. Hope it fits too - so far so good!
Today I got Anthropologie's newest enewsletter and every time I get one I dream of having a wardrobe full of Anthro. Would if I could but I can't - I can only afford a few pieces from then once in awhile. Best thing to do is hit the sale rack, anyway, Anthropologie sure is a great source of inspiration. I mean just look at this, this and this! Whenever I surf their line it makes me want to be a knitwear designer. Their designs are so inspiring. Maybe one of these times I will give it a try and see if I can figure out how to design a piece for myself!

Frogged?

I got almost done with my Poncho Vest and realized, I'm not going to wear this…I thought it was cute in the magazine - and it is on the model - but I'm not going to wear it. Not a biggie though. The gauge was so big it took no time to knit so I don't feel bad about unraveling it. Plus, I'd much rather reuse the yarn for something that I really like and I will have no problem finding an other purpose for this Van Dyck yarn. So I guess it's frogged.*I have to ask, can someone tell me what 'frogged' actually means and where it came from? I've been seeing the word a lot and I'm assuming I'm using the term correctly… am I? Do you know what it means?

Went on a little yarn hop today on my way back from Detroit. Visited a couple shops for the first time. Both were really cute and had really nice owners. Look at my goodies! Yarn always puts a smile on my face and a dent in my wallet!

Flower Tags

I've been having fun making crochet flowers with my Touché scraps. Just kind of making them up as I go. I made gift tags with these three. Just hot glued them to some card stock. Thought they were the perfect touch to packaging my knitted gifts. Love the bright colors!Looked great with my Knitterella Gift Tags too! Maybe next time I'll make them pins on gift tags instead of just hot gluing them on… Yeah, I like that idea!

Love My Itty-Bitty's

I just love making baby hats - especially when they're Itty-Bitty's! Here are a few I just finished. I know so many babies on the way and these will make great gifts!

Pattern Source: "Little Pumpkin" from Itty-Bitty Hats
Yarn: Berroco, Touché
Size: Newborn

Pattern Source: "Pink Paper Bag" from Itty-Bitty Hats
Yarn: Berroco, Touché
Size: 0-6 months
Notes: I wasn't quite sure I was doing the knitted picot edge bind-off right so instead I did a crochet picot edge. I know that stitch and it was much faster and easier for me. I think it turned out cute!

Pattern Source: Based off of "Simple Baby Cap 1" from Itty-Bitty Hats
Yarn: Filtes-King Extra, 100% Merino Wool
Size: newborn
Notes: I just used the pattern "Simple Baby Cap 1" as a reference for sizing, started decreasing every other row at 5.5 inches. I think striped baby hats are so cute!

Eat 'em Up Tigers - Eat 'em Up!

Last night Ed and I headed down to Detroit to meet up with a couple friends. We had FREE tickets to see the Tigers at Comerica Park. I was so geeked! I love the Tigers and this was my first time at a game and at the park. What a beautiful park!
Despite the scary storm that passed through (yeah, look at that sky, I was scared!) and caused a brief rain delay…
and despite the $8 beers!!!We had a BLAST! The Tigers kicked butt (5-1 against the Seattle Mariners) and our seats were only 5 rows up from first base! It was soooo cool!!! (Thanks so much Lynn for the free tickets!!!)Then of course we hit the bars and stayed the night with some friends.

Today I spent a small fortune at Urban Outfitters, Anthropolgie and Forever 21 and now I'm home and recovering on the couch and working finishing up a couple hats out of Itty-Bitty!So far it has been a great weekend! :)

Cable Footies

Finished these Cable Footies last night. It's been a long time since I've done socks, actually never done adult booties before. I was always afraid of the kitchener stitch but since Susan posted her tutorial I had no fear! I think they turned out great, they were fun to knit and I will make more. This pair is going off to my Aunt. She's going through some pretty rough kimo right now and I wanted to send her some knitted love. The pattern is from One Skein and I used Atacama, 100% Alpaca. Love the yarn. It's actually left over from the Slouchy Cardigan that I knit last winter. Here's a (not very good) photo. The pattern for this is out of the Knit Café book.I had 3 skeins left over from the cardi because I didn't do the hood. It was plenty enough to make these footies and I think I'll even be able to make a baby hat or two from what I still have on hand!

I Walked The Mackinac Bridge

Can't believe we did it but today hubby and I got up at 3:00 a.m. to walk the Mackinac Bridge. It's a Labor Day tradition of my father-in-law and this year we joined him (along with my sister-in-law her husband and their her 4 kids, ages 2, 5, 8 and 10). We got picked up at 3:30 a.m., made the 2.5 hr drive, waited in a crazy long line that took just about 2 hrs and then, FINALLY got on the bridge at 10 a.m. and made the 5 mile walk. I was number 27081 to cross the bridge! Then of course we had the traffic to deal with coming back.

Anyways, we're finally home and boy am I exhausted! I'm going to spend the rest of my Labor Day on the couch! Knitting!

Hope you all had a great weekend!
