A Pin Cushion

This project has been sitting on my craft table half finished forever. I got a little bit of sewing time yesterday so I thought I'd get around to finishing it.

It's the Easy Pin Cushion, free from Bari J. Great way to use up scraps. These fabrics scraps were from my mom's stash from years ago, kind of retro looking - actually the fabric brings back lots of memories from my moms crafting and me always stealing borrowing fabric, yarn and whatever else I could get my crafty little hands on.

These would make cute little gifts too don't you think? I think every girl needs a pin cushion - even if you don't sew! Oooo, one done with these would be very sweet as well.

Thanks for the pattern Bari J!

Never Thought I Would…

…but I did!

Yup, I knit a thong and had a very good reason for it! I spent my weekend at a bachelorette party for a dear friend and each girl was to bring a pair of panties for the bride-to-be that would reflect our personality and then the bride had to guess who each pair was from (and of course get punished with a jello shot for every wrong guess). It was so funny! She had no problem guessing what pair was from me!

Pattern Source: This is a free pattern from Interweave, "Lacy Thong" get the pdf here
Yarn: Berroco, Touché
Needles: size 7
Size: sm
Notes: I didn't do the lace detail and kept it stocking knit for an even quicker knit.

Flowers For You!

Thank you Peaknit and all you knitters for helping me! You girls were right, I needed to CO in that sequence every RS row. Gosh, for what seemed to read so complicated to me turned out to be very easy after your help.

Here's some flowers to express my appreciation!

Aren't these beautiful? This photo is straight out of the camera too - no color retouching - that's how gorgeous the color is!

Hey, if I don't get back to blogging have a great Memorial Weekend!

WTH?

Ever come across something like this in a pattern? (highlighted in pink below…)

I never know what that means????? Does it mean do that every row? Every other row? Every RS row? Does it mean cast off like that all at once - like 3 sts with 1 st, etc??? I thought I was cruising along on my Fiery Bolero but I guess I'll have to put it aside until I can take to it my LYS for help. It's probably something very simple but I just don't get it…

Do you know what it means?

EZs Wish

I've only knit like 3 pair of socks that I can recall in my 8 years of knitting and not one pair for me (I need to change that). I'm not much of a sock knitter mainly because I have 2nd sock syndrome, but EZ has always asked for a pair of knitted socks so this year for his birthday he finally got his wish.

Just plain 'ol socks but special because they were handmade and the yarn is very nice, warm and cozy (not to mention $$ - turned out to be pretty pricey taking 3 skeins!).

Pattern Source: Basic sock from The Knitter's Handy Book Of Patterns by Ann Budd
Yarn: Filtes-King Extra Stampato, 100% Australian Merino Wool
Needles: crap, I don't remember… but my gauge was 5sts per inch
Size: Man's M (next time should try Man's S for a tighter fit)

What A Doll Can Do

Last night I had my knitting (and now sewing!) buddy over. Miss O and I had a crafting marathon! First we finished up two knitting projects that she had going - a knitted owl and a little knitted purse (forgot to take a photo of them - shoot!). Then I showed her these sweet dolls from my new favorite The Black Apple. She fell in love with them as did I and next thing I knew I was cutting out pattern pieces and she was picking out fabric. Three hours later we had this sweet little dolly…

She named her Mitsy. She was so excited and happy and let me tell ya so was I. I really want to make more! (go to The Black Apple and click on the label DOLLS and see all the cuties she's made. Very sweet!)

I'm so glad I had my time with little Miss O. It really cheered me up and got me out of a minnie slump. It's amazing what crafting can do. Working with my hands and letting my creativity run can do wonders for the soul.

*Find the pattern and a video instruction from The Black Apple's appearance on Martha here. Now go make some dolls!*

Will Work For Yarn

Did I mention that I will work for yarn? Well heck yes I will - I'm mean, it's what I spend my money on anyway!

This is what I got in return for working on The Plucky Knitter's new logo for Plucky Classics. Check out all the beautiful hand-dyed yarn she sent me!!! Oh my gosh, what a package! So excited to cast on with one of these beauties! I think a Chickadee Cowl is in my near future. Now if I could only finishing what I'm working on now, like the Fiery Bolero by Debbie Bliss that I have yet to shown you, or the socks that I'm making for EZ. Well, I guess casting on for one more project wouldn't hurt, right?!

In other news, I've been trying to update Jill Zielinski Designs a little bit at a time. Still have so much more to do but it feels good to have made more progress!
