Apron No. 6

Here's another apron that I finished! It might look familiar because I have used this fabric for one before. Actually, I have enough in my stash for another still - this one too.

My signature embellished pocket. Love the red buttons.

Dream To Work With

Just finished a postcard and ad for Dreamweaver Yarns. What great people to work with and check out all the sweet products, yarn and patterns they sell on their site. Great stuff!
I met the Dreamweaver girls through the Fiber Buzz ads that I design. What a great way to meet and work with sooo many talented fiber companies. I really enjoy doing these ads and I have much love for Jennifer Hansen of  Stitch Diva for being the creative guru behind the Fiber Buzz concept. It is so awesome to work with her! If you are an owner of a small fiber related business and want to be a part of one of these ads visit here and email Jennifer.

Getting these freelance jobs done reminds me, I really need to get back into my site and start updating more. I let the ball drop since the last time I updated! - but seriously, who wants to do that kind of thing when there is knitting and sewing to be done  ;)

Crafting Equals Sanity

My Crafty To Do List:

• A top I want to sew

• A handful of aprons to do (by-the-way, thank you so much for the comment love on my Apron No. 5!)

• Still more baby gifts to knit (but that's OK, knitting for babies is my favorite!)

• More dolls to make

• A shrug

• A pair of socks

• A Kitty Hat

• A beautiful cardigan

• Try my hand at some marble magnets

• Another cardigan

• And am I ever going to make another skirt?

And those are just the projects that come to mind and I'm sure by tomorrow there will be more!

This might sound a little overwhelming and crazy to some, but like most of my readers can relate, crafting is my sanity!

Apron No. 5

It's been awhile since I've made aprons, remember this one and this one? I have some gift-giving coming up and spent time over the weekend cutting out fabric for a few aprons. Here's the first one of a handful to come.

I love the fabric on this one - tempted to keep it for myself!

Charade It Is

Just got back from a quick trip for work and it sure was nice to come home and read all the lovely comments on my Fiery Bolero. Thank you so much! Each one brought a smile to my face. I love showing off my FOs to you and it's always great to hear feedback from you all!

Thanks for all the suggestions on your favorite sock patterns. I did decide to start with Charade and am very happy I did. I love it so far. The Plucky yarn is great and the pattern is too. Very easy stitch pattern to memorize so that made it nice for knitting on the plane.

Glad to be back home - Missed you guys! :)

Fiery Bolero

Despite the headache it took to get here, I really love my new bolero!

I substituted the yarn (see notes below) and was very pleased with the way it turned out. Great fit!

I have quite a few outfits that I plan to wear this with, but I think this is my favorite. Red shoes and all!

Pattern Source: Fiery Bolero from Interweave Knits, Summer 2005
Yarn: 5 skeins of Berroco, Comfort DK (but only used 4)
Needles: size US 3 and US 5
Size: small
Notes: This yarn was a really nice substitute for the Debbie Bliss, Cathy that the pattern called for. I love the color and the yarn is very soft and pretty inexpensive. Nice to work with.

Fiery To Block

After a quick block my Fiery Bolero will be finally finished!

Oh man, I had no idea that when I casted on for this that it would become a major pain in my side. I tell ya, I had the hardest time picking up all the stitches for the neckline. I had to rip out like 5xs! See, when I pick up stitches I hardly ever get it to come out with the number the pattern calls for. Usually it doesn't matter that much but this time it really did because of the short row shaping for the neck.

Anyhoo, it's nearly done and that's all that matters now, well that and an FO photoshoot of course!

Pay Me In Yarn Please

No Plucky, Thank YOU!

After gladly doing more work for Plucky (Ravelry ad, another logo, etc) I received another box of yummy Plucky yarn. Ooooo, and it's a good one! Can't wait to cast-on for something with it.

I'm thinking of doing socks, maybe with some of the DK weight or the fingering yarn. I don't know socks very well but I know the yarn would be perfect. Any suggestions on a simple, nice and possibly free pattern for me? I'll scope out Ravelry and Knitty of course but if you had any ideas on patterns you like I'd love to hear 'em!

Bird In Hand

Miss O came to visit again and as usual we found ourselves in the laundry room craft room.

She likes to collect my fabric scraps so I save them for her and wouldn't you know it, she had some scraps perfect for making another bird to match this one.

Just love my crafting time with Miss O - need to do it more often!

Firework Show

Thanks for your help and input with my nightmare. I figured since the company is sending shipping labels to me so I can send the unacceptable tins back that the refund is a given but I better make sure on that. It better be!

OK on to happier things… Happy Fourth Of July! Can you believe this was taken in my backyard?

Well it was! Last Saturday night our neighbor put on quite the show for his niece's graduation party. I couldn't believe how good the fireworks were and how long they lasted. It was a top-notch show and we had the best seats! Just chillin' in the back yard with some friends and watching this awesome show go off less then a mile away. So cool.

Looking forward to seeing the night sky light up again tonight. Wishing you a happy and safe day and long weekend!

Packaging Nightmare

Sooooo POed!!!! I know I usually don't post about things like this but I need to vent - I've mentioned before that I have new product on the way for Knitterella and I was soooo close to a final product - the printing part has been done and paid for months now but my packaging JUST fell through.

SOOOOO freakin' frustrating! The sample I got from the tin manufacture (whom I could link to here but I won't) was a perfect fit and perfect look, PERFECT! So of course I ordered them but once my big order of tins came in the lids didn't fit, won't even stay on the base - sooo not what the sample they sent was - and there is no way I could produce and sell something knowing that it's faulty. I was just picturing someone buying this and tossing it in there crafting bag, the lid falling off and all the contents spilling out everywhere - I'd be pissed. BUT now I don't know what the heck to do. I already paid for the labels for the tins and will now have to eat that cost as I look for another way to package my product. GGgggrrrrrrr!!!!

I'm just dying to show you my new product too but it's going to have to wait until I can figure this out… so frustrating! So I guess this is 'to-be-continued' for now…

…hey, thanks for listening.

My Miss Dashwood

How could you not love this pattern? I mean the bobble row was a bit of a pain for me and I actually almost quit twice but I'm so glad I stuck with it!

Thanks again Delia for suggesting it!

************************************************************************

Pattern Source: "Miss Dashwood"
from Knitty
Yarn: Reynolds, Saucy
Needles: 5s
Size: Newborn
Notes: The p4tbl stitch for the bobbles was a pain (but totally worth it) I think next time I'll use metal needles so I don't have to worry about snapping my bamboo needles.
