Alphabet Blanket

I finished it

and I love it!

Pattern Source: "Alphabet Blanket" from The Baby Knits Book, by Debbie Bliss
Ravelry Link: Here
Yarn: Berroco, Comfort DK
Needles: size 4 and 5
Notes: If I make this again, I wouldn't pick up all the 239 stitches that the book calls for on the two sides. It seems to want to ruffle because I think there are too many stitches. Someone on Ravelry said they only picked up 187 - that probably would work better. Also, I didn't do the additional triangle border that the pattern called for.

End In Sight

I can't believe it, I only have to pick up the border on 2 sides of my Alphabet Blanket and I'll be done. That said, picking up stitches can be a pain for me sometimes. I always pick up way less then what the pattern calls for - let's hope I don't have to rip back too many times. If you have any tips on picking up stitches, I'd love to hear them.

This blanket has been taking up sooo much of my knitting time - can't wait to do the finishing block and be done!

Jill Zielinski Designs - Project Post

I'm catching up on some of my freelance work today and thought I'd post a recent logo job. I created this logo for Sassafras Creations. She makes very unique jewelry out of recycled knitting needles. How cool is that?

When she contacted me and told me about what she does, right away I imagined her studio covered with containers that were filled with colorful needles - and the idea for this logo developed from there.

It's always fun to work on jobs for fellow knitters and crafters and this one was no exception. I'm very happy with the way it turned out and I'm glad she is too!

Check out her great wearable art at her Etsy Shop. A great gift idea for your fellow knitter or a great gift idea for YOU!

Blue Or Pink?

Blue or pink, what do you think?

I'm not sure either so I'm just going to have to knit both!

Ribbed Baby Set

How sweet it is to have an FO for BZ!

I finished my Ribbed Baby Set. The sweater is this free download from Debbie Bliss. I've made it before - it's a great little project. The hat is just a basic one that I've knit up to match. Love the pom-poms! Oh and the yarn is soooo soft and sweet, 100% Baby Llama.

Pattern Source: The Ribbed Baby Jacket by Debbie Bliss that you can find here
Yarn: Elsebeth Lavold Baby Llama (the yarn was from my stash, I'm guessing I used like 3 skeins)
Size: 9-12 months
Needles: 6s and 5s
Notes: The hat was just a pattern that I made up. A simple straight hat based of the measurements from The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns: Basic Designs in Multiple Sizes and Gauges

New Books And A Blog

I got some new books to add to my madness of fast crafting. I know - I'm my own worst enemy!

But how could I resist? Of course I love so many things in both of these sweet books. For sure I'm going to work on some projects out of Little Stitches from the amazing Amy Butler. I did sew the crib skirt out of the book over the weekend and am contemplating doing the crib bumper too. Well, after some surfing of the web I came across an awesome new blog that has made it a for sure now - Check out More Than One Way To Knit A Hat. Now that is a nursery! OMG, I LOVE everything about it! And the crib set is the one out of Little Stitches. She also has the Modern Diaper Bag there too - that was another project I was eyeing up from the book.

Gosh, sooo much to do, and I'm realizing I have sooo much less time then I thought… I'm freakin' myself out!

Knitting Right Along

I've been knitting right along on my Alphabet Blanket. Can you see my row marker? Row 82!!! Actually, now I'm even farther than that!

I couldn't have made it this far already if not for my new buy - Pattern Tamers! (I got mine at my LYS but I see there is an Etsy shop too) Yes, another great tool for the knitter. These magnetic tools are very helpful in keeping my place on my knitting chart. It tames the eye and makes it more relaxing for me as I knit - not always the case with chart knitting! Plus, the decorative ribbons are too cute.

It's also a must for me to print the chart out at a much larger precent so I can see from a distance what I'm doing. Printing out on card stock also helps keep the chart stiff because the weight of the Pattern Tamers can make the chart flimsy. I also just discovered if I slide the chart into a plastic sheet protector I can easy slide the Pattern Tamers up a row after I finish one instead of totally readjusting it.

Some tips and tricks always help! Go buy some Pattern Tamers - I'm glad I did!
