BLOG TOUR: Boys' Knits

Today I'm excited to post as part of a blog tour for a new and exciting book by Katya Frankel called Boys' Knits.

I did some graphic design work for Katya (aka the bingeknitter) a few years back and that is how I became familiar with her work. She is a very talented knitwear designer and when I heard she was designing a book dedicated to knits for boys I was really excited. And totally honored when she asked me to be a stop on her blog tour.

This book couldn't be more fitting for me. Being a mom of two boys I certainly know that modern, stylish knitting patterns for boys can be hard to come by. How refreshing it was to see that Katya solved this problem with her new book Boys' Knits. This wonderful book offers 16 very cool, modern and fun to knit sweaters for boys. We're talking sweaters for boys in the 4-14+ age range. How awesome is that?!

Not only is there a wide range of boy-friendly styles but guess what? They are all seamless designs that are worked from the bottom up. Gotta love that!

In this book you'll find stylish vests…

(pattern name: "Ryker")

Cozy sweaters…

(pattern name: "Rigel")

 Cool cardigans…

(pattern name: "Chip")

And even colorwork…

(pattern name: "Taradiddle")

I love them all but I think for me, I'll have to cast on for DAX first!

(pattern name: "Dax")

This awesome book is published by Cooperative Press and you can buy it HERE. You can also buy in on Ravelry HERE.

Lucky for us - or should I say one of us :) Katya was generous enough to offer a copy for a giveaway! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of the book. I'll draw a lucky winner next week and email you your own copy Boys' Knits.

  3. I SO SO SO want this book! I have 3 sons to knit for, ages 14, almost 6 and 3. I like that these patterns cover a large range of ages. And so many great styles. I recently won a pattern from you, so it's probably not likely (or fair!) that I should win, but I just had to comment about how much I like this book.

  4. Not only are the models the cutest ever but the sweaters are gorgeous too. It's about time someone paid attention to knitting for boys. Too bad this wasn't around when my nephews were small.

  6. I love that someone finally made a book entirely for boys. There is a LOT of frill and bows and pink out there, not that those are bad things, but I have a nephew who would love some manly knits.

  9. As a mother of two grown boys, I know the scarcity sometimes of fashionable, boy-approved patterns for handmade items. Hoping someday for grandchildren of my own, but content with my great-nephews for now, I would love to a copy of this book to add to my collection!

  11. Such cute patterns! I would knit the vest for my friend's son, Ethan! If you see my name several times on these entries, it's because I'm really NOT a robot and it's hard to read these codes!

  12. It's so hard to find boys patterns that are both interesting and something that little guys will wear! These all seem to fit the bill. Precious!

  13. EVERY pattern in this book looks to be a winner- both knitting-wise and for the recipient!! Great job, Katya, and thanks for the generous giveaway :) Believe it or not, I have 9 boys of these ages (on both sides of the family) so getting this book one way or the other is definitely in my queue!

  17. There are so many sweater patterns out there for girls, ladies, and men. This book is so fitting to fill in the niche for boys who deserve classic hand-knit sweater love too! The designs are clean, classic and subtle enough that a boy won't put up a fight to wear. How fabulous!
