(This regular version shown in colorway Barely Birch.)
This hat was a long time in the making. What seemed to take the longest was just getting the courage and confidence to produce a pattern on my own. I’ve always loved the look of the smock stitch. I think it works beautifully as the brim of this slouchy hat. It feels SO good to see this complete!
(The extra-slouchy version shown in colorway Smore Chocolate. )
What kind of yarn is this knit in you maybe wondering… well yarn from The Plucky Knitter of course! You know my love for Sarah’s yarn so I think it’s quite appropriate that my first pattern was knit with Sarah’s new Primo Worsted. Only one skein to boot!
I’m also thrilled to tell you that for a limited time this hat pattern will be sold as a kit through The Plucky Knitter's Etsy store. YES! Sarah will be doing a shop update this Sunday, March 6th, 8:00 p.m. Eastern. The hat patterns will be sold as kits (one pattern and one skein of Primo Worsted in your choice of a Plucky repeatables colorway). This is the prefect time to get the pattern and the yarn together! If you don't make Sarah's shop update, my pattern will be sold through me after the kits sell out. I will be sure to update you when that happens.
I really hope you enjoy this pattern. I put a lot of time and effort into this and am so happy to have it ready to share with you. I hope that this is just the beginning of more original patterns from Knitterella!

Yes, that smocking stitch is perfect for the edging of that graceful hat. Your design is lovely and you chose wonderful yarn and colors to showcase the stiching.

Gorgeous! I will definitely be making this one!
Congrats - the hat is super cute. One quick question - how is the hat sized? Adult head size only? Or is there a smaller child size too. Love it either way and can't wait to get started on it!
Just bought the kit from Plucky Knitter with the early light yarn. Can't wait!!
I love your first pattern - I have a few of your notepads and love them for everything!!! (Bought them at the Yarn Garden in Charlotte, my sister is the owner!!) I'll have to check out the kit! Congrats!

The hat looks great, Jill. Congrats!
I was in a yarn shop in Truckee, CA last weekend and spotted a display of your items. She said they have been selling well. It was fun to see your things so far from home:)
