Three Winners and a PIP

I could call this my WIP but I'm calling it my PIP because it's a "Pattern In Progress". Using scrumptious, Blue Sky Alpaca, Organic Cotton in a gorgeous shade called Orchid I'm casting on for a new design. This time I'm deigning a simple, yet interesting baby blanket. Designing a baby blanket and designing with Blue Sky Alpaca are both new to me and I'm very excited about it. This yarn is heavenly!

Thank you for the posts to my Chevron Stripe giveaway. I really appreciate all the pattern love! To share the love I decided to pick three winners instead of just one. If you are one of the lucky winners below, please email me at knitterella@knitterella.com - Send me your address and I'll ship you a copy of my Chevron Stripe. Thanks to all that entered - I appreciate your support!

More Colorwork

Wow. Sorry my blog posts are few and far between these days. Though my blog has been pretty boring believe me life hasn't. With Jill Zielinski Designs, Knitterella, a baby that (STILL) doesn't sleep through the night and other exciting life changes (more on that later), life has been far from boring! Although there is knitting going on it's secret knitting because I'm working on new designs. However, I am going to indulge you with a sneak peek. Check it out…

Yup, more colorwork and I'm loving it! I enjoyed designing my Sonoran Cowl so much that I jumped right into another colorwork design. Hopefully this will start to fly off my needles because I'm very anxious to share it with you.

Along with my new pattern design(s), there is also new Knitterella stationery in the works and I just sent off my first non self-published design to Kollage Yarns! Exciting times and I can't wait to share more details with you - and I hope your still here when I do! :)

NEW PATTERN: Bobette Cowl & Mitten Set

Happy first day of Spring! Want to know how I'm celebrating it? I'm celebrating it by releasing my next pattern…

Introducing the Bobette Cowl & Mitten Set!

Bobbles and ruched stitching accent this cute cowl and mitten set. Not only comfy and cozy to wear but fun to knit too!

Worked up in beautiful, squishy soft, Plucky Primo Worsted from The Plucky Knitter, this cowl and mitten set is a must knit - even if it's 80 degrees here in Michigan on this first day of Spring!

And, don't you just love the punchy colorway? It's called Bombshell - a pink so hot it's almost red.

I know a lot of us are experiencing record high heat today but despite this summer like weather, I hope you find this pattern a must knit. Spending the first day of Spring casting on for a cute cowl and mitten set sounds good to me. I hope it does to you too!

The Bobette Cowl & Mitten pattern is available for purchase today! You can order a downloadable PDF HERE or a hard copy HERE

So go ahead… Queue it up! Cast on! and have fun knitting this comfy, cozy and fun to wear cowl and mitten set!

NEW PATTERN: Sonoran Cowl

The anticipation to release my second, self-published pattern this week has been killing me! After lots of work, trial and error, I'm SO excited to finally able to release it today. Introducing, my newest pattern, the Sonoran Cowl!

A southwest inspired motif is knit into this colorwork cowl. Beautifully colored yarn gives this bold graphic stunning results. This is a great, stylish accessory to keep you warm during the chilly months!

I had a bit of hesitation when I first dreamt this cowl up. I mean, I've only done charted colorwork knitting once before and that was back in 2007! I wasn't sure what I would be getting myself into but I’m glad I decided to jump headfirst into colorwork design. Being a graphic designer the process of designing a graphic and then turning into a colorwork chart for knitting felt very natural. I enjoyed it so much I know you will see more colorwork designs from me in the future!

With The Plucky Knitter's new Plucky Rustic as my muse, this cowl turned into a work of art! As you know, I just adore Sarah and her yarn and this new yarn base was no exception. Rustic just soaks up her colors making vibrant, beautiful yarn. I love the way this knit up and I frankly can't wait to cast on for another. With Sarah's amazing palette picking out the color combos is such a fun part of the process.

The Sonoran Cowl pattern is available for purchase today! You can order a downloadable PDF or a hard copy HERE

But WAIT there's more! This Thursday, in a shop update, Sarah will be offering my Navajo Cowl pattern in
a Southwest color work kit!!! This is a great opportunity to get the pattern along with the gorgeous yarn that it was design for. Besides, Plucky Rustic is Sarah's newest yarn and I know you want to get your hands on it. And now you'll have the perfect pattern for it too ;)

So go ahead… Queue it up! Cast on! and have fun knitting this fun, stylish cowl!

My First Pattern!

OMG. Is this post really happening? I can’t believe I’m actually ready for this but I am! So without further ado, here is my very first pattern. The Smocked Slouch…

(This regular version shown in colorway Barely Birch.)

This hat was a long time in the making. What seemed to take the longest was just getting the courage and confidence to produce a pattern on my own. I’ve always loved the look of the smock stitch. I think it works beautifully as the brim of this slouchy hat. It feels SO good to see this complete!

(The extra-slouchy version shown in colorway Smore Chocolate. )

What kind of yarn is this knit in you maybe wondering… well yarn from The Plucky Knitter of course! You know my love for Sarah’s yarn so I think it’s quite appropriate that my first pattern was knit with Sarah’s new Primo Worsted. Only one skein to boot!

I’m also thrilled to tell you that for a limited time this hat pattern will be sold as a kit through The Plucky Knitter's Etsy store. YES! Sarah will be doing a shop update this Sunday, March 6th, 8:00 p.m. Eastern. The hat patterns will be sold as kits (one pattern and one skein of Primo Worsted in your choice of a Plucky repeatables colorway). This is the prefect time to get the pattern and the yarn together! If you don't make Sarah's shop update, my pattern will be sold through me after the kits sell out. I will be sure to update you when that happens.

I really hope you enjoy this pattern. I put a lot of time and effort into this and am so happy to have it ready to share with you. I hope that this is just the beginning of more original patterns from Knitterella!
