Girl Progress

Wow. I'm not sure where the week went but sorry for my lack of posting. Everything is going good over here. Making some progress on my 'just-in-case-it's-a-gril' blanket. Isn't it working out beautifully? I think this blanket is going to be so gorgeous!

Since there is a quite a bit of chart work to follow for this project I need to have some mindless knitting going on as well. I always loved the way Melynda's Lazy Daisy Turban turned out so I finally made one of my own. I think this hat is so cute and looks even cuter on a baby. Did you see Melynda's photos?

As you can see I'm making some progress on my girl knits. One thing I wish I had more progress on was a name picked out for a girl. Since we have a long last name we'd like something short. We tend to like the old-fashion names too. Do you have any ideas? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

How about Ella, or Sophie?

It took us forever to come up with our daughter's name. Some of my favorites were Charlotte, Grace, Madeline, and Ella. My husband hated them all.

Once we finally decided on her first name, it took even longer to come up with her middle name, but we managed to do it right before she was born.

Our daughter's name is Addy - not short for anything longer, just Addy. We also have a longer last name, so the shorter first name works for our family too. I also love the names Lucy, Abby, and Haley.

I like Nora, Evelyn, and Emma.

Good luck deciding- choosing baby names is a lot harder than I ever imagined!

My favorite girl names in French (but I think the equivalent in English all exist) are: Catherine, Mélanie and Isabelle. But they are not so short...

I've always been a fan of old-fashioned names and I love that they are coming back into style. We searched and searched for a name with personality, because we have the opposite last name issue: ours is the most common in the nation. Stella, Ruby, Clementine, Olivia, Geneva (shortens to Genny or Neve), Anne, Elizabeth, Beth, Madeleine, Rose, Portia, Josie...so many sweet and lovely choices. Just in our cul-de-sac we have Elena, Elise, and Eleanor.

So many cute names to pick from - Abby, Ella, Rose, Lily, Tilly, Kate, Grace, Amy, Mia, Miette. I cant seem to think of any more at the moment. I am sure once you see your baby you will know the perfect name!

Love the blanket, love the hat. I'll have to make Elise a larger one this winter! I'm getting so excited for you, can't wait to hear the big news!

I love Olive - short, sweet, uncommon, and just a wee bit quirky.

My daughter is Bianca, which is beautiful and kind of middle length. As for short old-fashioned names, I do like Lena, Helen, Jane, Norah, Alice, and Celia. Good luck, and don't listen to anyone's opinion of the name(s) you select. It's your baby and name him/her what you want!

I like old fashioned names with different spellings. Our daugter is Allis Charlotte. She is almost 16 now and tells all the time she loves her name. I also like Mia. Whatever name you choose, your baby will make it their own.

Genevieve - not short, but you call her Gena(Jenna). Love the knits!
