I Got A Serger!

…now how the heck do I use it?!

I actually got this for Christmas - I didn't even ask for one and I was so happy when I saw it! It's great to have a crafty mom, she knows just what I need ;) - anyway, I've have been afraid to take it out of the box because I have no idea how to use it. Threading it alone looks like a nightmare. I am really excited about it though!

I noticed when I unpacked it that it came with a DVD - sweet! Now it's just a matter of finding a good chunk of time to sit down and do it. Probably won't happen any time soon though - work is sooo busy!

Wish me luck and I'll post again when I can. In the mean time hope you are having a great week!

You will love your serger. I have had one for years (Babylock) and I use it for all my sewing projects.

When you learn how to use it, let me know. I got one from a friend back in the fall - it's still sitting in the box. That thing scares me!

Mine was a love-hate relationship for almost a year. When it worked for me it was great, but then there were times I had no idea what was going on with it.

After time and patience I now love it,love it, LOVE IT!! I can sit down and it works perfectly everytime, first time. And no, I don't have a fancy thousands of dollars thing. It's a basic White which was recommended by many.

Have fun and get lots of scrap fabric ready. You'll get the hang of it:)

oh, you are going to LOVE it!
really don't be scared. threading it can be a little time consuming, but so worth it. just make sure you don't get your project in the way. you will cut it in half. that is the scariest thing. :)

Ooohhh, what A friend to knit with, said...there's no going back once that lil blade catches it! ;) That said, I love my serger - zoooooom! The first time I used one I ran all over the house looking for more things to serge. I made 2 dozen napkins in 10 minutes (hey, I didn't say they were square!), lined a trunk so I wouldn't keep getting pressed wood bits in my fabric, and made a whole slew of baby wipes.

Hi Jill. I am thinking of getting a serger and was wondering how you like yours? It looks nice and compact and not too fancy, which is what I'm thinking would be good for me to start with.

Thanks!
