Happy Valentine's

I wanted to pop in quick and wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are doing what you love today. I've got my knitting on my needles and although I would love to share with you what I'm working on I can't just yet.


I can't because it's my next pattern design. I actually have two designs that I'm working on right now. I'm really excited about them and I hope to share them with you real soon!

Christmas Count Down

Since I didn't post about the hanging of my finished Adventskalendar yesterday you may have thought that I forgot about it.


Of course, after all that work I put in to it to have it finished in time for December 1st, plus the fact that I even had a KAL on Ravelry for this project, of course I wouldn't forget to have this hung in time for the first day of Advent.


OF COURSE I wouldn't!


I did remember… I remembered at about 7 p.m. last night! Just in the nick of time for WZ to enjoy hanging it and getting his first treat out of mitten number 1 before having to go to bed.



And be sure, first thing this morning he was ready to dig into hat number 2!

Speaking of Christmas Count Downs. Did you see? The Yarn Harlot is doing a fabulous "gifts for knitters" count down until Christmas. And I'm not saying it's fabulous just because she mentioned Knitterella in her post on stationery yesterday. (OMG I'm still reeling from the fact that she listed/recommended my product line!) Over the days leading up to Christmas she's going to try and make some suggestions about stuff that knitters would like for Christmas gifts. I'm looking forward to seeing what she lists next. Be sure to follow it too!

OMG I Did It!

OMG I did it! I finished all the pieces to my Adventskalendar KAL. All twenty-four mini hats and mittens are knitted. All the numbers are embroidered. All and pom-poms are stitched on. And I'm thrilled!


I'm thrilled that I finished my deadline a few months early. A deadline that I was starting to question if I would ever reach. Now they are done and ready to go up when it's time to start our Christmas count-down.


I just know the kids will love it and I'll love how cute they will look on display in all their handmade glory! Looking forward to showing that FO photo when the time comes. YAY!!!

Naughty or Nice

I can't believe I haven't posted the whole month of December! Well, I guess I can because with sicknesses around here and handmade Christmas stress topped off with a sometimes 'Naughty' (but mostly 'Nice') baby, I haven't had the chance to do much of anything. Still, I had to take the time today to post a special Christmas wish to all of you.

Lazy Labor Day

Last year for Labor Day I walked the bridge, this year was spent at the lake, lying in the sun, the whole long weekend! Nothing like enjoying the last few lazy days of summer soakin' up the hot sun.


I got very little knitting accomplished but enough to finish one of my Cowgirl Slipper Socks. Perfect fit!

Now I'm off to the pool! Hope you all are enjoying your Labor Day!

Firework Show

Thanks for your help and input with my nightmare. I figured since the company is sending shipping labels to me so I can send the unacceptable tins back that the refund is a given but I better make sure on that. It better be!

OK on to happier things… Happy Fourth Of July! Can you believe this was taken in my backyard?


Well it was! Last Saturday night our neighbor put on quite the show for his niece's graduation party. I couldn't believe how good the fireworks were and how long they lasted. It was a top-notch show and we had the best seats! Just chillin' in the back yard with some friends and watching this awesome show go off less then a mile away. So cool.

Looking forward to seeing the night sky light up again tonight. Wishing you a happy and safe day and long weekend!

Happy New Year!

The party's over and now it's a day of vegging out, watching football, eating (more) food and being with family (hope to start a baby hat or two for some expectant friends too).


We rang in the New Year the usual way, with a party at our basement bar with family and friends. It's always a great time with lots of good food, stiff drinks, fast cards, happy dancing, and many laughs! Despite being sick for 10 days (but who's counting!) Christmas and New Years was just wonderful! I hope you all had a great time over the holidays and I look forward to catching up on your blogs.

Deck The Halls

No blog worthy projects to post about today but thought I'd spread some Christmas cheer!


Not too bad for a 6 ft, pre-lit, $20, Black Friday tree from Menards.


This little one is for the Fisherman in the house, it's deck out in Christmas lights that are shaped like fishing lures.


I made the felted stockings hanging there a couple of years ago. The green one felted up just right. The pink one got shaped a little weird when I felted it - the shape reminds me of something that would be in a Dr. Seuss book.

I also want to thank you for the great suggestions on how to fix my bleeding problem. I knew you could help me. I'll let you know how it goes!

Halloween Tricks!

Happy Halloween!I wanted to send some Halloween wishes your way and I also have a Halloween trick to share. I think about this one every Halloween - it always cracks me up!

Back in college one of my best guy friends came up with a simple yet hilarious Halloween prank. I was hosting a party and he came over with a dozen beautiful carmel apples to pass. I tried one and they were so good - I couldn't believe he made them himself! They looked perfect too. Later, another friend took a bit of one and immediately spit it out. YUCK! It was an ONION!

I thought mixing in a couple carmel onions to the apples was brilliant. Good clean fun you know what I mean? I mean really, the onions looked just like the apples. (so glad I didn't bit into an onion - I hate raw onion!)

So if you want a fun Halloween dish to pass you should give this trick a try!

If you are wondering the pillow in the picture is one that my mom made for me a couple years ago. I just love this pillow. She made it up as she went along and I love the way it turned out.
